MP3 Music………..

ImageIpod, Walkman’s……these are the MP3 players of our generation. Our ears are constantly plugged with or headphones/earphones.

Cultural Behaviours

  • MP3 player users immediately transition into their own world as soon as they press play. Because users can select a specific song with a click of the dial, the MP3 player’s interface allows people to rapidly build their own soundtrack to their life. Positive Effects

    Positive Effects

  • MP3 listeners control their own environment without intrusions from television and print advertisements, giving them the ability to express individuality. This technology also enables users to share files with their friends, creating a sense of community.

    Negative Effects

  • Communication has diminished within the public sphere because of MP3 Players. Individuals isolate themselves. Users also illegally download songs. However, most people do not regard it as a crime, considering the easy access to MP3 files on various websites.

Another effect that not many people would think of is that they get distracted more easily when they are doing their work and are listening to music at the same time…….Disruption!

Why use a Blog?

ImageSince I came to using a blog I have found it much easier and much faster to broadcast my views to the world. Even though I’m a frequent user I still find it tough on what to talk about. With a blog you are free to write about your views, your opinions and your points and what you think is going on today in society. But the question is, why use blog? Blog helps everyone from people who own businesses to people who just want to blog everyday and about everything.

Blogs have been used:

  • as a way to express personal opinions.
  • as a marketing tool.
  • as a communication tool.
  • as an educational medium.
  • and even as a campaign strategy for presidential candidates.

A blog has advantages for business owners and people looking to make a living from the Internet as well:

  • Blogging establishes you as an expert in your field.
  • Blogging moves your site up in the search engines if you update your site regularly.
  • Blogging gives you an easy way to interact with customers and potential customers.
  • Blogging is an easy way to give more value to your customers and let them know more about you and your products before they buy.

There are so many ways into why to use a blog. Most of the people will say to spread their message worldwide.

People write blogs as a way to express themselves and their knowledge or expertise. People read blogs as a source of information or because they find the writer interesting. Blogs are extremely useful, both to the writer and the reader. The writer may have a lot of knowledge to share, and the reader may want an informal way to learn about a topic. Some people use blogs to find other people with similar problems, issues or situations. Blogs can be anonymous, which helps a lot of people share information without being known. Some people like to state their feelings. Kind of like your message board in WikiAnswers or talk page in Wikipedia. Same thing really. It is also possible to receive comments about experiences from other people.

Well there you have it how blog can be helpful to the world and why it is helpful to the world. Next time you read this why don’t you start up a blog I guarantee you’ll have a blast….

Online Banking………..

Lloyds, HSBC, Barclays, Satander these are the names of many banks that do online banking. Online banking is what makes us send money faster and receive it quicker. So many people use online banking as it is an easier way to give and transfer money and you don’t have get out the comfort of your own home…..

Advantages of Online Banking

The advantages of working with an online bank are numerous, and include:

  • High convenience, with unlimited banking hours and your information is only a mouse click away!
  • Transactions are processed quicker than a regular ATM transactions
  • A variety of banking services and tools that help you manage your assets more effectively, including the ability to download transactions or create reports based on your spending and financial habits.
  • Reduction in paperwork since most information you need is viewable from your online account, meaning you don’t have to file statements or other information as often.

Disadvantages of Online Banking

While the advantages of having an online bank are many, there are some disadvantages to consider before making the leap:

  • A lack of printed documentation.  While it’s an advantage not to receive and deal with monthly statements, there is some risk to having all financial data saved online.  Banking institutions have back-ups of data, but it may be in your best interest to print statements for your own records just in case.
  • Difficulty finding your way around the banking websites.  Due to having so many options and tools available, some people may have trouble finding their way around the bank’s website to find what they’re looking for.
  • Security.  Even with top of the line security systems online banks offer, there is of course an increased risk for identity theft or fraud when your personal data is accessible online.

Well there you go; online banking benefits us in so many ways. The way that internet has been shaped makes it easier for us to do what we need to do.

Information sites allow you to find out information on different things. Information sites like Wikipedia can be written by people on the site so you could make your own account and give information that you know about on different subjects. Information sites like: Wikipedia; means you do not have to buy books like the encyclopaedia to find out information when you can just use the internet.

Disadvantages:

Wikipedia is written sometimes by people online and this could mean that they write false information and also because articles can be changed that means someone could change an article and write            whatever they want to.

Effects of Social Networking Sites on Teenagers…..

ImageMe, myself am a teenager and yes…..I AM ADDICTED TO THE INTERNET…..I’m not scared to say that, but I’m not like the average teenager. The average teenagers in my eyes are the people who have Facebook and look at Facebook like it is more important than school.

48% of 14 to 21 year old’s check Facebook right when they wake up. This is an extraordinary amount. It is just not right.

It is not just Facebook in the mix, you have other networking sites like, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr and many more, but what are they doing to this generation of ours?

As more and more teens are becoming aware of the internet, more and more are risking their safety.

Here are some tips:                                                                                                             Think about what you post. Sharing provocative photos or intimate details online, even in private emails, can cause you problems later on. Even people you consider friends can use this info against you, especially if they become ex-friends.

Read between the “lines.” It may be fun to check out new people for friendship or romance, but be aware that, while some people are nice, others act nice because they’re trying to get something. Flattering or supportive messages may be more about manipulation than friendship or romance

Avoid in-person meetings. The only way someone can physically harm you is if you’re both in the same location, so – to be 100% safe – don’t meet them in person. If you really have to get together with someone you “met” online, don’t go alone. Have the meeting in a public place, tell a parent or some other solid backup, and bring some friends along.

  • 73% of teens (12-17) have profiles on social networking sites.
  • 47% of teens (12-17) have uploaded photos; 14 % have posted videos.

This is quite a big number. If we take for example, Facebook, the age limit is 13, but people as young as 7 have Facebook, this is very worrying.

Remember stay safe online!!!

The Impacts of having a Laptop……..

ImageLaptops, Laptops, Laptops…….don’t we just love them? These tiny little, mega computers are a gateway to a faster and sometimes a more pleasant life. We treat these like babies, we hold them precious to our hearts, to the certain extent that if they die or break we mourn our loss like the loss of human life. But how have they become a craze all around the world? Millions of people have laptops as they are much cheaper and of cource much, much LIGHTER, than a computer. There are so many advantages and disadvantages to having a laptop that even if they are bad ones we still use them………

The Advantages are:

  • It is portable you can carry it around with you, not like a proper PC.
  • It saves battery by locking itself.
  • Installed webcam most of the time.
  • These days they are becoming cheaper.
  • Laptops have lower power and space requirements than desktops, thus conserving electricity and space while accomplishing the same work.
  • Because a laptop is a complete computer, you aren’t dependent on peripherals like mice, keyboards and monitors, although you can easily add these things and even plug your laptop into a larger monitor, television or other display.

    The disadvantages are:
    • They don’t always have internet connection like a computer.
    • They overheat and that damages them.
    • It doesn’t have internet therefore buy a dongle/Wi-Fi.
    • Laptop computers are difficult to repair, upgrade or modify due to their closed and integrated design.
    • However, the battery is limited to time. The more you work on it, the more power it will use from the battery and little time you will have to utilize it.
    • Laptops can also be sensitive to diverse damages. If the screens get broken, it is hard to repair them since they are attached to the PCs. With a desktop, you can change or fix it without affecting the other parts.

So there you have it……Laptops tock the world and we love them!

Exactly………..well done!

Why, why, why…….Wikipedia…….

Wikipedia is a global sensation and sometimes for the wrong reasons. ImageSometimes we trust Wikipedia, sometimes we don’t but all in all we still use it. Over the years Wikipedia has had it’s good and bad runs, but has still stood strong. Wikipedia of course has his advantages and disadvantages and here they are:

  • You can get the information you need and fast.
  • The fact that Wikipedia is free and that you don’t have to pay on the information that they give you.
  • 75% of the time you can get information about anything.
  • It gives you the definition and the reference.
  • Very quick and easy to find relevant information without trawling thorugh a bunch of google searches.
  • Great for just finding out general knowledge or a basic explanation of something you need to know about.
  • Normally explains the information in clear, simple terms to make it easy to understand even if you’re not familiar with the subject.
  • The best thing about using wikipedia for research is that most pages have sources which take you to other sites.

Now those are advantages and here are the disadvantages:

  • Majority of the time the information that has been put on Wikipedia is not monitored and is put on by random people around the world.
  • 50% of time Wikipedia can’t be trusted as the things that they write can’t all be true.
  • The things that are on the website can be very upsetting and can result in people taking legal action. The information is not reliable as virtually anyone can go onto wikipedia and put up whatever they want. This means that people with no qualifications in a particular subject area can still write information about it, including a lot of people who really have no idea what is going on.
  • Because of this, most educatoinal institutions don’t accept Wikipedia as a reliable source.

Although Wikipedia can be very unreliable, we rely on it for the simplest of things! Wikipedia Rocks (Sometimes!)
